Biosecurity Sanitizing Systems for Agriculture & Industry

High-pressure misting tunnels for people and vehicles — protecting farms, packhouses, feedlots, and facilities from disease transmission at every entry point.

Biosecurity / Overview

Why Biosecurity Matters

Every person, vehicle, or piece of equipment that enters your facility is a potential carrier of pathogens. Foot-and-Mouth Disease, Avian Influenza, Newcastle Disease, and bacterial contamination spread rapidly across farms and processing facilities without effective biosecurity controls at entry points.

Misting SA designs and installs high-pressure sanitizing tunnel systems that create an automated, hands-free biosecurity barrier — for people on foot and vehicles. Our systems are trusted across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa on commercial farms, abattoirs, feedlots, packhouses, and processing facilities.

Personnel Sanitizing Tunnels

Automated mist arches that disinfect workers, clothing, footwear, and equipment as they enter controlled areas.

Vehicle Sanitation Tunnels

Drive-through misting systems targeting tyres, wheel wells, undercarriage, and body panels for full-coverage disinfection.

FMD & Avian Influenza Protection

Proven systems for livestock and poultry operations at high risk from foot-and-mouth disease and bird flu.

Automatic Activation

Sensor or timer-triggered — no manual operation required. Consistent biosecurity without relying on staff compliance.

Sanitizing Tunnels provide automated, hands-free disinfection for people, equipment, footwear, and tools entering controlled facilities. They create a fine, even mist of disinfectant that coats surfaces without soaking clothing or damaging equipment, ensuring consistent hygiene control at entrances.

What Are Sanitizing Tunnels?

Ideal for farms, packhouses, abattoirs, poultry houses, stables, processing plants, and vehicle entrance points where biosecurity and disease prevention are critical.

How The System Works

Our tunnels use a high-pressure misting frame fitted with multiple precision nozzles to release a fine, controlled spray of disinfectant. As a person or piece of equipment moves through the arch, the disinfectant is distributed evenly from all sides.

System Includes:

  • Stainless-steel or mild-steel tunnel frame
  • 70–80 bar high-pressure pump
  • Non-corrosive misting nozzles
  • Solenoid valve for automated start/stop
  • Foot or motion-activated trigger
  • Optional dosing system for consistent disinfectant mixing

The mist evaporates rapidly, ensuring no dripping, no residue, and no wet floors.

Key Benefits

Fast, Automated Sanitization

Runs automatically via sensor or foot switch — no manual spraying needed.

Uniform Disinfectant Coverage

Fine mist coats clothing, shoes, equipment, and tools evenly.

Uses Safe, Non-Corrosive Disinfectant

Compatible with natural or commercial agricultural disinfectants.

Low Water & Chemical Usage

High-pressure nozzles deliver fine droplets for maximum efficiency.

Durable Construction

Built for farms, packhouses, mines, and industrial environments.

Supports Biosecurity Protocols

Reduces risk of cross-contamination and disease spread.

Biosecurity / Vehicle Sanitation

Biosecurity begins at your entry gate. Vehicles, tyres, workers, and equipment are major carriers of viruses, bacteria, and contaminants. Misting SA provides high-pressure sanitation tunnels that apply a fine, even coverage of disinfectant — ensuring fast, contact-free biosecurity at all access points.

Why Vehicle Sanitation Matters

Uncontrolled vehicle movement introduces foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), avian influenza, bacterial contamination, cross-site pathogen transfer, chemical and waste residue, and tyre-borne soil pathogens. Sanitation tunnels reduce these risks by providing automatic, full-coverage disinfection in seconds.

How The System Works

Vehicle Tunnels

  • Vehicles drive slowly through the tunnel
  • Sensors activate misting automatically
  • Nozzles target tyres, wheel wells, undercarriage, side panels, and front/rear surfaces
  • High-pressure fog ensures full coverage without over-wetting

Available Lengths

Tunnels are available from 2 m to 12 m depending on the vehicle type — from bakkies and light vehicles to heavy trucks and articulated rigs.

System Features

  • High-pressure fogging (70–100 bar)
  • Complete stainless steel frame available
  • Nozzle spacing customised for vehicle size
  • Fully automatic (sensor-activated)
  • Runs on natural disinfectants (non-corrosive, safe around people)
  • Quick installation with low running cost
  • Compatible with auto-flush filtration
  • Available in multiple lengths (2 m – 12 m)

Typical Applications

  • Farms and feedlots
  • Abattoirs & meat processing
  • Packhouses
  • Border control & agricultural checkpoints
  • Construction sites
  • Logistics yards
  • Waste facilities
  • Poultry & livestock facilities

Biosecurity

Foot & Mouth Disease Protection

High-pressure misting systems designed to reduce viral transmission and strengthen biosecurity at critical entry points.

Biosecurity / FMD

Foot & Mouth Disease Protection

Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) remains one of the most severe biosecurity threats affecting livestock across Africa. The virus spreads rapidly between animals, equipment, vehicles, and personnel. Misting SA supplies high-pressure sanitizing systems designed to reduce viral load and improve on-site biosecurity.

How Our System Protects Against FMD

Fine-Mist Application

Our systems apply a controlled fine mist that distributes disinfectant evenly over surfaces such as shoes, clothing, wheels, tyres, and equipment. This ensures broad coverage without excessive wetting.

Continuous Biosecurity Barrier

Installed at entrances, exits, or high-risk zones, the system forms a sanitizing barrier that workers, visitors, and vehicles pass through, reducing viral transmission.

Compatible with Approved Agricultural Disinfectants

Our equipment is designed to work with a range of veterinary-approved solutions commonly used for FMD control.

Automatic Activation

Sensors or timers activate the mist as people or vehicles pass through—providing a hands-free, consistent sanitization process.

Key Benefits

  • Reduces viral contamination at critical entry points
  • Supports compliance with livestock health and biosecurity standards
  • Rapid installation with minimal operational disruption
  • Low consumption due to fine atomization (high-pressure technology)
  • Safe for workers, animals, and equipment
  • Scalable for small farms to large agricultural operations

Where FMD Sanitizing Systems Are Used

  • Commercial cattle, sheep, and goat farms
  • Abattoirs and livestock processing plants
  • Feedlots
  • Auction yards
  • Agricultural checkpoints
  • Veterinary quarantine areas
  • Import/export control points
